Joyce Sackey

Clinical Professor of Medicine, Primary Care and Population Health

Joyce A. Sackey, M.D. FACP is the inaugural Chief Community Engagement Officer for Stanford Medicine, and Clinical Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Sackey has extensive leadership experience in advancing organizational cultural transformation and advancing health equity. She served as the inaugural Chief Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for Stanford Medicine from September 2022 to February 2025. 

Prior to joining Stanford Medicine, Dr. Sackey was Associate Provost and Chief Diversity Officer for Tufts University’s Health Sciences campuses in Boston and Grafton. Before that, she was Assistant Professor of Medicine and Associate Director and Advisor for William Augustus Hinton Society at Harvard Medical School (HMS) and internal medicine attending at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC), where she also managed a large a complex panel of primary care patients. She completed her residency in internal medicine and served as Primary Care Chief Resident at BIDMC. A leader in medical education, she completed advanced fellowship training in medical education and was a Senior Rabkin fellow at the Shapiro Institute for Education and Research at BIDMC and HMS.
