Our Vision
Our Vision
We envision a world where race and ethnicity no longer adversely impacts people’s security, health, freedom, opportunity, political self-determination, or life experience.
Goals and Activities
Assemble a community of scholars and thought leaders
As an intellectual center of gravity on campus and beyond, the institute will facilitate connections between Stanford researchers and community organizations, government agencies, thought leaders, institutional partners, nonprofits, corporations, and scholars at other universities.
Support solutions-oriented research
The institute will support the cultivation and acceleration of research to drive solutions to produce racial justice. Substantial support (funding, space, and staff) will go toward developing and maintaining collaborations with external partners from nonprofits, government, and industry to co-design and implement research and evidence-based solutions.
Collaborate with external partners to affect policy, practice and public understanding
The institute will work with partners to share findings among policymakers, organizations, small groups and individuals in the broader public to develop practices that promote racial justice. The institute will also collaborate with community leaders, practitioners, executives, teachers and Stanford students to employ practices developed from research insights.
